About the event

Taitaja2014 in Lahti, 8-10 April 2014


Taitaja is Finland's biggest annual event in vocational education. The competition attracts some four hundred students each year. Taitaja2014 will be held at the Lahti Fair Centre and the adjacent facilities of Salpaus Further Education. The free event is expected to draw some 40,000 visitors.

Finnish National Skills Competition

In the Taitaja national skills competition, young professionals compete in 44 different skill categories. Spectators can watch as students go head to head in competitions, and learn about different career and educational opportunities. For businesses, the event is an opportunity to meet future experts of their industries, while young people get a chance to experience different vocations in practice.

The event also includes dozens of international guest participants.

TaitajaPLUS and Taitaja9

The event includes the TaitajaPLUS skills competition for students with special needs. TaitajaPLUS is open to students who follow an Individual Educational Plan at a vocational school. In addition, the Taitaja event includes Taitaja9, a fun practical skills competition for ninth graders competing in teams.

Taitaja2014 is organised by Salpaus Further Education and partners. The skill competitions are coordinated by other Finnish vocational institutes and hundreds of businesses representing different industries. The Taitaja competition is coordinated by Skills Finland ry.
