Taitaja2014 Finnish Skills Competition
Taitaja2014 will be held in Lahti on 8.-12 April 2014.
The skills competition features 45 different skill categories. The competition is open to vocational students who are aged 20 or under in the year of the competition. In addition, one guest competitor per skill category can be invited from one of the international partner institutes of Salpaus Further Education.
The competition design and construction replicate a genuine work environment . The competition tasks are in line with curricula grade Excellent (5). Each category is judged by a trilateral jury with representatives from educational, employer and employee organisations.
Finnish finalists for the Taitaja 2014 competition are determined in semifinals organised in early 2014 across the country. The semifinals are attended by nearly 2,000 young students each year.
Taitaja2014 will feature two demontration skill categories. Demonstration categories are not competition events. Skill categories are featured as demonstration categories in two consecutive years before they are included in the competition. In addition, Taitaja2014 will feature a showcase presentation of one skill category.
TaitajaPLUS and Taitaja9
TaitajaPlus is a vocational skills competition for special needs students aged 15 or over. The competition does not have an upper age limit. In Taitaja2014, the categories are Craft and Design, Customer Service and selling, Property Mainteinance and Cleaning Services
A practical skills challenge for ninth graders, Taitaja9 is intended as a fun and inspiring event to promote knowledge about practical subjects, epseciially technical science, textile arts and domestic science.
